[Angel]

I nod at this.
"Maybe. I typically try not to be noticed, so I'm not surprised."
I scratch my jaw, glancing up at the old building.
"I've almost forgotten what sunlight feels like." I add absently. "I think it's been three years since I willingly got up during day hours."

[Mi'Jette]

I sit on a barrel and run a hand through my hair.
"Sunlight... It can be beautiful, in a painful sort of way," I reply.
I shift my jaw.
"The dark hides the dangers that we all hide from."

[Angel]

I remember that the loose fit of my trench coat would have hidden any trace of my wings. I decide to keep it that way, for now.
I pull an old crate up and sit on that, snorting lightly at her words.
"The closer you are to danger, the farther you are from harm." Is my reply.
"The dark has no allegiances to those it cloaks. It can be used to work against those things as easily as it can work for them."

"Oh how true you are," I mutter in response to her last comment.
It made me wonder if she knew what really went bump in the night these days, but figured it best not to ask.
Some things were better left unsaid.
"So you're a Bounty Hunter? Not many females left in the business."
Her reply to the question would determine whether or not she knew about vampires.
That would give me another clear angle.

I run a hand through my hair.
"Yea. Bounty Hunter.." I utter a harsh chuckle at the words.
"Not the life I saw for myself ten years ago. My mate and I picked up the trade out of desperation, and now he's dead and this is the only thing I know how to do."
First honest answer I'd given anyone in awhile. Most of the time just said I liked to kill- simple answer that kept people away from me.
I knew nothing more of reality than what I perceived it to be, which was harsh and cruel, but also easily manageable with the right skills. I didn't think I needed to know more than that to get along.

I was a bit surprised that she was talking so much, but it was nice to have a conversation that lacked swearing and death threats, etc.. Conversations were like that in this sort of profession. Maybe I wouldn't have to kill her...
"This occupation is hard to have with people close to you. The burden of keeping them safe can bite you in the back..." I reply, speaking from experience on that one. I had said it a bit too literal though.
I doubt she would even notice since she was just a regular hunter.
Vampire hunters make sure to keep the existence of vampires secret to the world of the living for peace reasons. Having normal hunters running about made it easy for us to hide.

I guess the openness came with keeping everything shut up for so long.
I nod in agreement.
"That it can."
I scan the crumbling room around me, more for a distraction than an actual concern for safety.
"So, what brought you into this bloody trade, then?" I query, eyes going back to her now.

[Mi'Jette]

"It was kind of thrust upon me, so to speak," I state;
"The world threw me into Hell and I learned to cope with what I was given. Hunting was the answer."
I really wasn't lying, and if she was as good as I gave her credit for, she'd be able to tell that I was being honest.
Most good hunters had a sixth sense for liars; came in handy for poker.
"I suppose being normal wasn't my fate."

[Angel]

A vague, but honest answer. Most Hunters seemed to have some version of that story- I could say the same line and it'd still be honest from my mouth.
Still, the way she worded it made me suspect something that wasn't stereotypical of most.
"Normal is a matter of perspective. From our eyes, this is very normal." My own phrasing going to more blurred words in hopes of getting her to say something that would form a bigger picture.
Talking this way amongst normal society might be considered rude; for Hunters it was just part of the game. Rarely were things ever spelled out for you.
Everything had to be worked for. That was just how it was.

[Mi'Jette]

"The definition of normal can only be stretched so far, even for hunters of the like."
"I am no exception to the matter."
Normal was the opposite of my being.
I was a monster that hunted my own kind, not for revenge, but as a sort of repentance for my past deeds towards the living and the dead. I have done my fair share of sinning, yet my earlier self is covered in the blood I spilled.
Blood can't be washed away, only faded.

I tilt my head slightly.
"Always nice to have an optimist around."
The ghost of a grin on my features.
"What makes you so abnormal that a change in perspective can't encompass it?"
Going so far as to ask a direct question might be dangerous, but she was clever and if she wanted to dodge around it I was sure she'd find a way.

[Mi'Jette]

She was sneaky, I'll give her that.
However, there'd have to be a lot more pressure on me to blurt out that I was a vampire, who was also a vampire hunter.
In other words, I'm just a racist mofo.
"My quirks have quite the boundaries," I smirk;
"I'm scarier than I seem for someone with boobs and a gun."
That was treading lightly.
If she knew, I suppose I could point out about what really massacred the sixty sum odd rioters around the town hall last week, who weren't exactly living, breathing human beings. They were stupid, sure, but no where near human.

[Angel]

I laugh.
"And yet I've seen nothing that really throws me yet."
Another direct sentence- I was getting more answers. That was good.
"So let's play a game, huh?"
I stand, stretching momentarily, feeling a few joints pop.
I then tug my knife from my boot, flipping it, catching the hilt, flipping it again.
"Unless you'd rather we both keep dodging words..?"

[Mi'Jette]

I chuckle and tilt my head to the side for a moment.
"And what kind of game do you have in mind?" I inquire.
If it included any sort of physical work, I might have to dumb it down slightly to seem less supernatural and fucked up.
My accuracy was frighteningly persistent, my speed was to the point one would think I could teleport, etc..
Being a vampire for several years gave me the advantage of experience and time to learn what I was capable of, as so others of my kind realized.

"Just a game to weed out necessary and unnecessary words." I reply, and stop flipping my knife.
"You ask me a question- and I give you an answer. If you have to ask again, to specify, to detail, then that's one cut on my wrist. This works vice versa as well."
I flick an ear.
"If the questions are answered in full, then there's no need to spill blood."

[Mi'Jette]

I was suddenly intrigued by this female.
She would risk possibly fatal wounds on herself just for answers.
Well, she'd definitely get answers even if I didn't speak. Give my wounds a couple moments and they'd be closed.
"Works for me," I reply, getting up and rolling one of my sleeves to my elbow. I pop a curved, serrated blade from the inside of my coat and look it over to make sure it was clean first.

[Angel]

I nod.
This game could either be a test of strength and endurance or it could be simpler. It just depended on the people involved.
I just shrug my trench coat off and grip my knife again. My left wrist's fur was choppy and uneven- it'd stopped growing evenly after I'd nearly destroyed that arm doing this same thing with someone I probably should've let be.
Me and my damn pride.
Of course it was only visible after I loosened the hardened leather bracer there, which I set on top of my trench coat. I had one on each wrist, covering up to my elbow. They took a shitton of abuse, too..
[Too lazy to describe outfit, here's a pic of basically what she wears underneath it.]

[Mi'Jette]

My arms technically should be marred and disfigured, but thanks to my quick healing my arms were in perfect condition.
I'd get battered to shit and I just take a couple hours of rest to rehabilitate and I'd be fine.
I suppose my blade of choice wouldn't help the matter... A serrated blade filleted the flesh with ease.
Oh well I suppose. I'd heal anyway.
I guess what was really making me curious is what she might ask me. There were multiple questions she could ask, may they be personal or business related. If I did avoid the question, it wouldn't hurt me any. Yeah, it'd twinge and feel nasty, not like that was unusual.
"You can go first, since it's your game plan," I reply, twirling the blade in my hand.

"Alright."
I eye her serrated blade curiously- using that was almost a death wish.
I then look her over again, noting that her body was fairly unmarked for one in this job field.
"What went wrong with your last partner?" I ask, going back to flipping my knife.

[Mi'Jette]

I pause to think about that question.
It'd been a while since I had to relive that memory because I buried it without a second thought.
"Hmm... He had compromised the current mission we were on at the time, jumped the gun, and got himself caught by our targets. He was tortured for information about our organization and when I finally found him, he demanded that I shoot him to end his suffering because he knew that if I tried to get him out, we'd both be dead. So I shot him pointblank and left him there."
It was easier to explain than I had expected and I was a little surprised with myself. Granted, I had been vague, but I answered what she had asked, so if she wanted more than that, it didn't bother me.

Alright. That was enough- I wouldn't dig for more information that I didn't nescessarily need.

I didn't feel like being extensive with this... I'll start simple first.
"What's your name? Real name is preferred," I say, letting my blade twirl around my hand.
The question had actually been on my mind since the pub, but it would have been strange to ask it then.

Angel... In the presence of a demon... How queer.
"Mi'Jette Grim Lore. Odd name, yes, but it is true to the letter."
"What has been one of your most traumatic experiences in the past? Besides what happened to your companion."
I decided to be vague because one can't really be specific with such a question when pointed at a stranger.

[Angel]

"More true than mine." I answer with a slight chuckle to my tone.
It dies when she asks her next question, and I bite my lip a moment.
Cut right down to the bone on that one.
"I ah.." I shake my head a bit, look a the ceiling. "When I was...21..I got jumped in an alley. Low life scum.." I flick my ear. "He was ah... gator I think. From how he.."
I make another nervous motion.
"Long story short, he had his way with me, took the $5 I'd been carrying, and then left. I've got scars somewhere on my lower back where he cut me because I wouldn't cooperate."
I clear my throat and meet her gaze again.
"Never been able to look at gators the same way since. What about you?"
Lightening my tone so I can forget about what I just said.
